The landmark riverside scheme is now being relaunched with some interesting hooks.
A series of “major partnerships” have been signed with the likes of Zaha Hadid, Armani/Casa and The Old Vic, with the aim of giving residents “an experience not found at any other London residential location”.
The ZHA tie-up was actually announced last year, and will see the high-profile practice reworking the 200 square metre lobby. The project marks ZHA’s first refurbishment of an apartment building interior, and involves the installation of a new mezzanine and lift, concierge desk and lighting scheme at the former office block, previously King’s Reach Tower, which was originally built to designs by Richard Seifert in 1972.
Meanwhile, Armani/Casa has been brought in to furnish the collection of apartments to a top-end spec. The interior scheme is based on “understated elegance, essence and simplicity” and meant to complement the “bold” exterior architecture. A bespoke curation of artworks will feature works by big names including Anthony Gormley.
Marking something of a coup, a third partnership has been signed with The Old Vic, which promises to bring residents an “eclectic range of arts and culture”. The “unique” programme, anchored by the famed theatrical institution, will include “intimate fireside talks”, tailored gallery tours of new exhibitions, and access to the services of art curator Arianna Nourse, who will be available for personal art consultations.
Resident perks will also include access to London’s largest roof garden on the tenth floor, a private lounge and dining room, 20m pool with gym and spa, six-seater cinema, and 24-hour concierge and security services.
Prices for the two- and three-bed units are starting from £2m, rising to £5.75m for the “black edition” collection, and hitting POA at penthouse level (where a “mesmerising living experience” is promised). JLL and Knight Frank are on marketing duties.
CIT Group originally acquired the building without planning in a joint venture with Jadwa Investment in 2010; it was converted by KPF in 2015 into a 41-storey mixed-use scheme, delivering a range of two and three bedroom apartments.
Richard Gabelich of SF Asset Advisory: “Southbank Tower boasts one of the best locations in the world, with unrivalled views of London’s iconic skyline and historic landmarks. We want to enhance the Tower’s already exclusive offering to redefine what residents can expect from their living experience. Working with Zaha Hadid Architects, Armani/Casa and The Old Vic perfectly complements the elegance and sophistication of the Tower and together we can elevate residents’ homes and lifestyle to create unique and inspiring collaborations within and around the Tower.”
