In Paris, the most memorable interiors rarely feel designed in the conventional sense. They feel collected, shaped over time through architecture, light, craftsmanship and the quiet layering of objects with history and meaning.
It’s precisely this atmosphere that luxury co-ownership platform August Collection, sought to capture in its first Parisian Grand Pied à Terre project, a design-led residence tucked into the heart of Le Marais.
Located on Rue de Birague, moments from Place des Vosges, the apartment marks a new evolution of the brand’s approach to luxury urban living. More expansive and residential in feel than a traditional pied-à-terre, the project was conceived not simply as a place to stay, but as an immersive interpretation of contemporary Parisian life.
To bring that vision to life, August collaborated with interior designer Julie Tysseire-Torres, whose approach centred on preserving the soul of the historic apartment while introducing a quieter, more tactile sense of modernity.

That philosophy informed every design decision throughout the residence. Original architectural details were carefully restored rather than replaced, allowing the apartment’s history to remain visible within the space. Parquet flooring, mouldings and natural textures were paired with sculptural contemporary pieces, bespoke finishes and vintage finds sourced across France to create an atmosphere that feels both elevated and deeply lived in.
The result reflects a broader shift taking place across luxury interiors and hospitality, where character and emotional connection are increasingly valued over traditional notions of perfection.
That movement has become especially visible throughout the city’s wider cultural and design landscape this year, as Paris continues to reinforce its position as one of the world’s leading centres for interiors, collectible design and contemporary craftsmanship. Against the upcoming autumn backdrop of Paris Design Week, evolving gallery culture and a renewed appreciation for artisanal materials and historic architecture, the apartment feels intentionally aligned with the city’s current creative mood.
In a city defined by its interiors, that authenticity may ultimately be the greatest luxury of all.
