Starting this summer, around 95,000 GCSE students in Manchester and the West Midlands will be able to access their exam results via a new government-backed app called the Education Record. The pilot aims to modernize result delivery and reduce administrative costs for schools and colleges. Results will appear on the app at 11:00 AM on Thursday 21 August, though students can still collect paper results from 08:00 AM.
The initiative is part of a broader plan to digitise students’ academic records. School leaders and unions support the move but emphasise the need for smooth implementation and reliable support. Some also advocate for broader use of digital technology in exams and education infrastructure overall.
