Nations Strive To Get Their Hands On Downton Abbey Style Home In Global Competition

10.09.18

People around the globe are eager to get their hands on a ‘Downton Abbey’ style British mansion, as part of the world’s first truly global luxury property competition.

Tens of thousands of people have bought tickets millionairemansion.co.uk for the competition to win a ‘millionaire lifestyle’ prize worth £3million, including a mansion with all its the contents, furniture, fully equipped kitchen, a Rolls Royce, quad bike and tractor. The prize also comes with £50,000 spending money, a housekeeper and gardener paid for a year, a golf course, swimming pool, Stamp Duty property tax paid and a separate apartment in the 10-acre grounds.

The British and Australians lead the field of those taking part, with New Zealanders the next nation most eager to win the stunning prize, in what is believed to be the first ever global luxury property competition. Then it is people from the United States, South Africa, France, India and Canada, all attracted by the property and its secluded location in the beautiful English countryside in the county of Devon.

The competition is raising money for 11 charities including Make a Wish, Farms for City Children and the Red Cross – running through to November 30

“The idea of selling a house and raising money for charity has really caught on. It took time to set up as a truly global competition but we’ve had interest from people in over 100 countries which is incredible,” says Dan Pritchard, representing Ogilvie Promotions, a company set up by the anonymous British businessman who currently lives with his family in the property.

“It’s not just the house that people are excited about, but also the Rolls Royce and money. And if the winner doesn’t want to live there, the owners will help them sell it and cash in.”

The luxury mansion is 30 minutes from the famous Devon coastline and just two hours by train from London. The winner can keep it, rent it out or sell.

The ground floor the mansion features double entrance doors leading into a large hall, drawing room, kitchen, dining room, library, study, breakfast room, bar and double doors on to an entertaining terrace and barbecue area, with steps down to a secluded walled garden. The basement has a wine cellar, utility room, drying room and storage rooms.

Upstairs there are four large en-suite bedrooms. The master suite has its own sitting area, dressing room and French doors opening on to a balcony. The property is fully secured with electric gates, closed circuit television and alarm systems.

“This all started with wanting to move to be nearer our family but has become a way to raise money for our favourite charities,” says the anonymous business who owns the home. “It’s amazing how people have responded. We’ve been overwhelmed. I think people love the idea of not just winning the mansion but the whole lifstyle, with the Rolls Royce, staff, money and all the contents right down to the stocked wine cellar. It really does mean you can enjoy that ‘millionaire lifestyle’ from day one.”

Tickets are £10 English pounds, plus 50 pence booking fee per transaction with people from around the world able to enter the competition online.

For a chance of winning, entrants, who must be at least 18 years old, need to buy a ticket at millionairemansion.co.uk and successfully answer a multiple-choice question. As well as the main Millionaire Mansion prize, there are nine £10,000 English pound runner-up prizes.
