Oscar-winning actor and Hollywood royalty, Anthony Hopkins has listed his Malibu Estate for $11.5 million.
The Two Popes star, bought the cliffside property for $3.8 million in 2001, but according to listing records, he’s now ready to let go of his longtime Malibu residence. The Academy Award winner recently listed the 4,000-square-foot two-story home for $11.5 million, a substantial increase from the $3.8 million he paid for it in 2001.
Situated on approximately one acre of land between Zuma Beach and Point Dume, the home is perched on a cliff with unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean. Built in the 1950s, the residence somewhat resembles an English manor house, with dormer windows jutting out of the distinguished red brick roof. The property includes five bedrooms and five bathrooms, with separate structures scattered throughout the property.
Highlights of the home include two fireplaces, one of which is located in the living room, and a luxurious master suite with a sauna in the master bathroom and an entire wall of glass overlooking the beach below. Outside the back of the property features a number of decks ideal for al fresco dining, which step down to a green lawn that stretches all the way to the bluff’s edge. A swimming pool sits alongside a poolside cabana that has been converted into an art room.
According to the listing agent, Hopkins is looking to spend his time closer to central Los Angeles. He and his wife, Stella Hopkins, also currently own a two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo in downtown Pacific Palisades that they bought in 2016, as well as a newly built contemporary home nearby that they bought in late 2018 for $6.6 million. In early 2019, they purchased a third property in the area—a vintage 1940s Colonial next door to the contemporary house—for an additional $6 million.
