An 8.2-acre, 40,700-square-foot Tennessee mansion hit the market this month, with a cool asking price of $14.995 million.
Villa Collina, Spanish for 'Hill Town', backs up to the Tennessee River and boasts panoramic views of the Smoky Mountain Range. The Knoxville home - which is the largest in Tennessee - boasts two outdoor terraces, two swimming pools, three guest apartments, a ballroom, a gym and a movie theater.
The owner of the massive riverfront estate is Eric W. Barton, president of Vanquish Worldwide, a government contract provider, who purchased the property in 2016 for $6.37 million.
The master bedroom, once featured on HGTV’s 'Million Dollar Rooms', is a $5 million suite with gold inlay crown molding, Swarovski crystal chandeliers imported from Italy, handmade imported silk window treatments and doorknobs valued at $200,000.
Richard Smith of Berkshire Hathaway, the listing agent for the property, explains that the floors on the first floor are all marble, the front door is bullet-proof, and that the carpet, painting, roof, and patio have all been recently redone. “It’s the best location in Knoxville, right on the bend of the river, just down the street from Cherokee Country Club.”
According to Mr. Smith, Mr. Barton has put millions into the home, restoring it back to its original condition. The electrical bills used to cost $10,000 to $12,000, but, after its restoration, they now cost between $1,000 and $1,500.
