Luxury developer Caudwell has offered a first glimpse inside the highly anticipated Le Provençal development, unveiling the inaugural furnished apartment within the iconic former hotel. The £300 million plus (Gross Development Value) project is transforming the landmark building into an exclusive residential address on the French Riviera.
The newly showcased four-bedroom apartment, situated on the seventh floor, boasts an expansive 2,242 square feet of lateral living space complemented by 495 square feet of private terraces. The interiors are designed with an understated contemporary luxury, thoughtfully referencing the elegant aesthetic of the French Riviera's 1950s and 1960s.
This initial furnished residence serves a dual purpose, providing prospective buyers with a tangible vision of the living spaces and offering Caudwell valuable insights for the design and configuration of the full show apartments, slated for launch later this year.
Le Provençal enjoys a prime location at the gateway to Cap d’Antibes, fronting onto Avenue Notre Dame and Boulevard Edouard Baudoin, with commanding views over the Mediterranean Sea. Originally constructed in 1926-27 as the Hôtel Provençal by architect Lucien Stable for American millionaire Frank Jay Gould, the building holds a rich history, having hosted royalty and numerous A-list celebrities throughout its past.
Upon completion, Le Provençal will comprise 41 luxury residences, including lateral apartments, penthouses, and villas, all featuring secure private garaging. Residents will also benefit from Art Deco-inspired public areas, a cinema, health spa, restaurant, children’s playroom, retail boutiques, and six acres of meticulously landscaped gardens featuring a 30-meter swimming pool.
Caudwell has collaborated with Richard Martinet of Parisian architecture and interior design studio Affine Design, renowned for their work on prestigious hotels such as the Hôtel de Crillon and Hôtel de Paris, to design the building’s public spaces and the layout and specifications of the individual apartments.
The first furnished apartment spans the entire depth of the building, offering panoramic views from its south-facing covered loggia over the Bay of Golfe-Juan and the Mediterranean Sea. The north façade features two generously sized balconies with views extending towards the Alps.
John Caudwell, the British businessman, philanthropist, and Founder of Caudwell, commented on the development: “Le Provençal is a magnificent landmark building undergoing a sensitive refurbishment into a new residential address. We are carefully blending the modernist and deco style of the original 1927 building with Art Deco references and contemporary creations. Our aim is to deliver ultra-prime residences that seamlessly combine heritage with the latest specifications and stylish modern living, adding to the esteemed legacy of Cap d’Antibes.”
Apartments at Le Provençal are currently listed for sale with prices ranging from €4.5 million ($4.82 million USD) to €8 million ($8.57 million USD), with marquee residences priced from €15 million ($16.1 million USD). Detailed pricing information is available upon application.
