Located within the elite enclave of Bal Harbour, Oceana Bal Harbour, the artful, ultra-luxury 240-unit oceanfront condominium that sits on 5.3 acres of land and 400 feet of pristine beaches, is home to a museum-worthy art collection by internationally-acclaimed, contemporary artists Jeff Koons, Callum Innes, An Te Liu, Jorge Mendez Blake, Taryn Simon, Juan Usle and Garth Weiser.
The glass tower’s two lobbies are adorned with 10 canvas pieces and its pool deck beachside gardens and Porte-cochère are graced by the property’s gems, the larger-than-life Jeff Koons sculptures, Seated Ballerina and Pluto and Proserpina. Prior to calling Oceana Bal Harbour home, the sculptures toured some of the top museums around the world, including the Whitney in New York City, the Pompedou in Paris, the Guggenheim in Spain and MALBA in Argentina.
Unprecedented, the entire multi-million-dollar collection is composed of abstract, conceptual and site-specific commissioned pieces designed in different art forms: paintings, sculptures, installations and objects. Redefining the confluence of art and residential, the collection is a shared asset of the residents of Oceana Bal Harbour.
Other sculptures on the property include An Te Liu’s Mono No Ma 2013, Tropos III/I/I (for Gertrude Stein), Tropos I/II/I (for Djuna Barnes) and Tropos IV/III/I (for Mina Loy). A Taiwanese installation artist and sculptor based in Toronto whose work is influenced by his background in art history and architecture. Liu’s work tackles the legacy of modernist design from a postmodernist perspective.
The visionary and developer behind the project is Eduardo Costantini who is also the founder of arguably the most important Latin American modern and contemporary art museum, MALBA in Buenos Aires. His vision was to create artistic spaces residents could interact with daily, while complimenting the interior and architecture of the development. The masterworks seen throughout the property can be sold after the property’s five-year anniversary with an 80 percent winning vote.
Costantini carefully selected a star team of architects and interior designers, including interior designer Piero Lissoni, landscape architect Enzo Enea and architect Bernardo Fort-Brescia, to curate an environment that reflects the beauty of the property’s natural surroundings and its architecture. The art collection, curated by Costantini himself, plays a large role in the overall concept and core of Oceana Bal Harbour.
