Grand Masters

21.04.20

Creating a masterpiece, worthy of gallery space is something every artist aspires to. With a history of developing innovative products that seamlessly fuse technological excellence with functionality and high-end design, it’s no surprise that Gaggenau’s latest creation is a scene stealer next to other exhibits in the gallery.

“Launching our products in a gallery environment provide a unique setting where attendees can appreciate art and Gaggenau appliances.” Group Brand Marketing Manager, Edina Crnkic explains. “The creative idea stems from the overall theme of Grand Masters and the narrative of how masterpieces can be created be it in an artistic or kitchen environment. Our new combi-steam oven range literally opens up a world that is waiting to be mastered.”

On this occasion, the 400 and 200 series combi-steam ovens are creatively positioned next to large frame photographs of life-size sculptures which have been cast in concrete and then submerged in the ocean, where over time, they begin to evolve as algae and coral.

Thinking long term and being in an ‘evolving state’ are second nature to Gaggenau, which was founded in 1683 as an ironworks studio and moved into developing high-end, award-winning kitchen appliances in 1956, revolutionising the domestic kitchen in 1999, when they brought the first combi-steam oven, for the home, to market.

With timeless avant-garde design and skilful workmanship, the company has developed an oven that is sleek and minimalist. “Our technological leadership has enabled us to create an appliance which offers perfect cooking results without any restrictions, while adding to the aesthetic of the kitchen,” explains Managing Director, Dr Peter Goetz. “We believe that having the ability to cook like a professional, is a statement of luxury for those that find culinary pursuits an out-and-out pastime. As leaders of innovation, we look forward to continuing as pioneers in both steam cooking technology and healthy food preparation.”

With features such as a concealed grill, emotively lit by invisible LEDs, an oven capacity of 50 litres and a multicore temperature probe, consumers are offered an almost limitless choice of dishes that can be cooked inside the oven, allowing the private chef to utilise the oven’s precision and create innovative, healthy culinary delights.

As award-winning Executive Chef, Phil Fanning comments, "Cooking is becoming increasingly popular, particularly for the health-conscious cook, as it reduces the need for fat and oil to create delicious dishes. “A combi-steam oven in particular, produces an enhanced flavour when cooking meat and vegetables by incorporating steam to the roasting environment. It also allows for much greater control when cooking, and Gaggenau 400 and 200 series ovens showcase this perfectly. You can control the humidity for consistently excellent results – bread is a great example of this, as you need 30% humidity for the first five minutes, then little to no humidity for the remaining bake.”

With a traditional combination oven, it can often be pure guesswork to get that perfect, crusty baguette. Fanning adds: “The Gaggenau range also lets you control the sous-vide down to one-degree increments, giving professional-level precision in a domestic kitchen.”

And as all of Gaggenau’s new combi-steam ovens are equipped with Home Connect, the cook can effortlessly monitor and control the appliance via the Home Connect app from mobile or tablet.

Both the 400 and 200 series steam ovens are available with either a fixed water connection or refillable water tank, enabling consumers access to fresh water via a plumbed water line or a tank equipped with intelligent sensors that alert the user to when the tank needs to be emptied. All series 400 models and the 200 fixed water connection model feature innovative automatic cleaning systems, whereby a cleaning cartridge effortlessly descales and removes any heavy soiling from the cavity interior in under four hours. All of which leaves time for plenty more dinner-party planning.
