Gianni Versace New York Home for Sale

The former New York home of late fashion tycoon Gianni Versace has come up for sale, sporting a $70mn (c.£55.9mn) asking price, reports Abode2.

The opulent Baroque-style mansion at 5 East 64th Street in Manhattan sprawls over 14,175 square feet across six floors, offering 17 rooms including seven bedrooms, a games lounge with pool table, and a Moroccan-style media room.

There’s also a “magical” 3,025 sq ft garden, overlooked by a balcony that runs the full 35-foot width of the building, and a rooftop terrace with gazebo looking down on Fifth and Madison.

Versace bought the neoclassical building in 1995, redesigning its interiors in trademark lavish style. There are intricate Italian marble and terrazzo floors, painted ceilings and walls, mosaic and Austrian parquet floors, five fireplaces, and huge baths.

The townhouse now presents “an opportunity to live like fashion royalty and own a piece of real estate and fashion history,” say Nikki Field and Amanda Field Jordan of Sotheby’s International Realty East Side Manhattan Brokerage – who are also offering “Versace-inspired” furnishings to buyers looking to ape the former resident’s style.
