An exclusive capsule collection is being launched this week as part of the first birthday celebrations of an exclusive design brand.
Magenta Maison, founded by Anastasia Kuatkhina in June 2017, offers unique high-quality personalised items made from sustainable materials for its customers. The company devotes its designs to incorporate bright colours coupled with natural materials to create bespoke garments.
The latest collection, entitled ‘Sexuality and Expressionism through a Surrealist Lens”, draws inspiration from the chic city of Berlin.
“I drew inspiration from the minimal black and leather clothing of the chic Berliners, the monochrome fashion photography retrospective of Helmut Newton at his foundation, and the pared back techno beat of Trentemøller that sends energy through your body at every club,” explains Anastasia. “The clean, simple lines of the glass extension to the Sammlung Scharf-Gerstenberg Museum, SSGM, forms the backbone of this anniversary collection, encapsulating my immersive experience in Berlin.”
Gloves as accessories are central to the collection, paying homage to the German expressionist and symbolist Max Klinger, whose work Anastasia studied during her time at Central Saint Martin’s. The collection displays wearable garments from one side with an unexpected twist from the other.
“The glove is conveyed through dreamlike distortions of scale and jarring juxtapositions and is further elaborated with the addition of oversized gold sequins, adding a playful yet surreal, decorative disproportion to otherwise provocative garments,” Anastasia says.
Black is also used as the main colour, drawing inspiration from Helmut Newton’s sexually charged monochrome nude fashion photography. Each look is set against a black background to bring out elements of colour, like the monochrome prints in the red room of a photographers studio.
“In my collection, colour is added through provocative fabrics such as sheer red organza, lilac patent leather and mirror-esque gold disks, with splashes of flame orange to pastel pink silk satins to add to the red room aesthetic,” Anastasia adds. “Models wear rouge, rouge de lèvres with eye catching green make-up calling back to Newton’s colour photographs.”
Tying together the collection are the colours Lilac and Indigo which are always in the spectrum of Maison Magenta. With a sense of glamour and radical chic, the Maison presents you with the next sustainable, exclusive and elusive collection that is all available through made-to-measure appointments.
This will be followed by their our Haute-Couture “Glass Mass” collection.
The collection will launch at a fashion show at the DoubleTree Hilton in London’s Marble Arch on Wednesday, June 6 at 6pm. As part of the launch, Anastasia and her team will raise money and the profile of Janet Ginnings charity, Today and Tomorrow, and the important work they do to support young mothers.
