David Duchovny, the star of the long-running sci-fi drama “X-Files,” has sold his Malibu home in California for $10.98 million.
The 64-year-old actor, who also starred in the “Californication” TV series, has let go of the Point Dume pad designed for al fresco living that he built for himself and his family. He sold it with Compass Real Estate agent Chris Cortazzo, who also represented the buyer.
According to Cortazzo, Duchovny’s two children have “outgrown the house.” He will be moving elsewhere in Southern California, but has not yet decided where. The house, which listed on the market in April, sold for $1.6 million less than its list price.
Duchovny purchased the property and its “old house” in 2016 for $4.75 million and spent $7 million building the new property with architect Michael Kovach, according to Cortazzo. The final house 3,580-square-feet, three-bedroom house completed in 2021.
He found a train car on the property and repurposed it into a private guest retreat away from the main house. It has a wooden, cozy living and sleeping area, a dining nook and kitchen. The actor used the area as an artist retreat where he wrote his book and recorded his podcast.
