Bringing authentic Italian soul into a design project is key to Luxury Italian Living’s approach to home styling. Serena Templeton meets creative duo Emanuel Gargano and Gianluca Spinazza and discovers how their ‘born from tradition’ approach delivers truly exceptional results.

TELL US ABOUT THE PORTFOLIO OF SERVICES OFFERED BY THE COMPANY

Luxury Italian Living (LiL) is all about taking clients on a personalised design journey; each step guiding them deeper into the world of beauty and artisanship, all the while being able to understand and experience the design process. Accessing products and materials isn’t enough of an induction in itself – over the years we’ve learned that it’s our responsibility to make clients aware of what it’s possible to do with those chosen materials, how to install them, how to place them in a space, how to respect, enjoy and above all, live them.

As such - our hands-on approach runs from initial concept and build through to the grand finale hand over of keys. We also take a modular approach, meaning clients can select a single product or service, or engage us forthe duration of the project. Our skilled team of craftsmen from Italy and the UK carry out the full spectrum of services from construction, restoration, and renovation of an existing property, to the touch point finishing details delivered by our product team in Italy who work with companies specialising in stone/marble finishes, wood, flooring, kitchens, bathrooms and spas, along with furniture, soft furnishings and lighting. Our work is bespoke – you could say it’s where passion unites with the artisan’s voice.

WHAT IS THE ESSENCE OF ITALIAN STYLE?

It’s a combination of traditional ‘know-how’ blended with artisanal passion; a relationship that’s been part of our culture for centuries. But it’s also the legacy bedrock of beauty, in the aesthetic sense, that’s been handed down through generations.

YOU TALK ABOUT BRINGING DESIGN TO LIFE USING THE SIX SENSES - HOW IS THIS ACHIEVED?

Design is sadly a word that, through overuse, has become devoid of meaning. The only true creative path we can take today is one that embraces emotion. If a work of art, a display of architecture, a captivating sound or aroma doesn’t bring us a new vision, then it has no validity – our self-awareness and receptiveness determines our true connection to our senses and in doing so, healthy and inspired living environments are created.

WHERE DO YOU SOURCE YOUR INSPIRATION FROM?

Inspiration can only truly come from within and from observing the past. In order to move ahead, we have to look back, to re-configure our point of view and engage our emotions. Isolation and silence is key. Noise is distracting. In a hectic world – it’s important to find time to stop and think.

WHAT DESIGN TRENDS ARE COMING TO THE FORE?

Trends are too connected to finite time, and as such, have self-imposed limitations. A much better approach is to embrace all matter that cannot be placed in a recognisable time frame. Divesting ourselves of everything superfluous and adopting a back-to-basics philosophy, is a much more fulfilling way of being; one that I hope takes root in wider society – it’s an approach that I truly believe will be the salvation of humanity.
