A magnificent Belle Epoque villa has come up for sale in the South of France, sporting a €30 million (c.£26.65m) asking price and some serious A-List credentials.
Set behind imposing automatic gates in 1.24 acres of terraced gardens overlooking the Port de Nice, Villa Le Roc Fleuri on the Cap de Nice is the long-time former home of Bond actor Sir Sean Connery – and played a role in the 1983 Bond film, Never Say Never Again.
Connery picked up the property after marrying his second wife, Micheline Roquebrune, a painter and Riviera local, in 1970. The couple lived in Mont Boron for well over a decade.
Built in 1928, the c.1,000 square metre villa now provides five bedrooms, lots of parking, both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a sauna, and some serious entertaining space. There are also two separate guest villas and a staff apartment. It’s located about 30 minutes from Monaco and Cannes on the Cote d’Azur.
Knight Frank is marketing the property. “One of the wonderful things about the French Riviera is the sense of stardust – a favourite haunt of royal families as well the likes of Coco Chanel, Pablo Picasso, Grace Kelly and Sir Sean Connery,” says Edward de Mallet Morgan, the firm’s super-prime sales partner. “Knight Frank is delighted to be selling Sean Connery’s former residence, a beautifully located waterfront home, Villa Le Roc Fleuri on the Cap de Nice. Within easy reach of Nice, Cap Ferrat and Monaco, this c.1,000 square metre Belle Epoque styled villa, is perched on a hillside amongst an oasis of beautiful, newly renovated terraced gardens running down to the sea, with an indoor swimming pool, outdoor salt water swimming pool, two independent guest villas and jaw dropping views along the glittering Cote D’Azur.”
