Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi's home in Montecito has sold for over its asking price. The couple placed their home on the market through Riskin Partners Estate Group of Village Properties/Forbes Global Properties and began receiving offers within days of placing it for sale.
The home received "multiple offers within two days of hitting the market," and eventually sold for $5.2 million, more than its $4.9 million asking price.
Originally built in 1954, the 1,690-square-foot property was remodelled in 2012.
The two-bedroom, two-bath 1950s bungalow is just steps away from Montecito's Butterfly Beach. Tucked away at the end of a lengthy driveway shared with three other homes, amid a nearly half-acre parcel laced with palms, the single-level house offers 1,700 square feet of glass-lined living space that has been extensively renovated through the years.
With vaulted ceilings sporting whitewashed exposed beams throughout, the Bali style interiors are centred around an open-concept great room hosting a fireside living room, a dining area, and a sleekly designed kitchen outfitted with Portuguese limestone countertops and high-end stainless appliances.
A large grass area with steps leads to an outdoor dining area with a large rustic table with a bend on one end and wooden chairs on the other. Just steps away from the dining table is a fire pit, both of which are lined with plants and tall trees.
