A furniture design firm, first founded in Istanbul, has launched its first UK showroom in London, giving clients, architects and designers an opportunity to see their contemporary and traditional designs.
The Budak Group was formed in 1983 and has been creating bespoke furniture for private and commercial clients ever since.
Last year the company opened a successful design studio in Manhattan, New York to focus on interior design projects, and now the company has branched onto UK soil, allowing visitors to appreciate fully their beautiful craftsmanship.
Clients include Sheraton Hotels, Savoy Theatre, Hampton Court Palace, GlaxoSmithKline, Bobbi Brown, Soho House, Hubert Zandberg and Morgan Stanley, plus private homes, offices, hotels, bars, restaurants and public buildings
“At the core of Budak London is a passion to create bespoke furniture that can transform a room, or a property, into something truly outstanding. It combines contemporary design and beautiful craftsmanship in both modern and traditional styles,” explains Dogan Cagatay, head of Budak London.
The Chief Designer is acclaimed furniture craftsman Metin Macit, who is known across the globe for his artful blending of ornate English craftsmanship with contemporary styles. Metin has designed furniture for Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle.
Each of Budak London’s pieces – from bespoke furniture including cabinets, dressers and chairs, to panels, coving, and one-off timeless pieces – has been exquisitely designed and crafted. Furniture can be tailor-made to order, following a traditional or contemporary design, depending on clients’ needs.
“London has a strong design heritage and is a vibrant city that combines contemporary and traditional aesthetics – so it fits the Budak approach perfectly. We also already have a large number of clients in the UK so it made sense to open a showroom here to better serve them – and to introduce Metin’s craftmanship to a wider UK audience.” explains Dogan Cagatay.
The London showroom is at 171 St Johns Hill, London SW11 1TQ. For more information visit www.budaklondon.co.uk
