Bringing Sound & Light to Mickey’s Beach

It has been a fabulous opportunity and pleasure to work with celebrity chef, Michael Caines, to help bring his vision of Mickey’s Beach, the latest addition to his portfolio of hotels and restaurants, to fruition, with the planned opening next week.  Intelligent Abodes Ltd have helped to create the perfect ambiance at both Lympstone Manor and Mickey’s Beach by installing lighting control and music.

We have been working on the project for over three years, designing the lighting control and the music. Therefore, it was a great delight to see the finished restaurant yesterday when we were doing the final set up the music with one of the in-house DJs and the lighting with Michael Caine’s, who revealed that ‘ he can’t wait to welcome guests’.

The restaurant and bar has a distinct holiday theme, consistent with the vibe of Exmouth, which will be welcoming many holiday guests & staycationers this summer. The music system has been carefully designed to blend with the decor, with pendant speakers that compliment the light fittings, discreetly hidden sub-woofers in the seating and subtle planters on the external terrace. We have given consideration for the level of sound, achieving a balance of background music for dining with the ability to enhance the lively sounds of the in-house DJs at the weekend.

Michael Caines is very particular about the look and feel of his restaurants, which is why he has invested time and effort choosing luxurious themed lighting, that not only enhances the decor, but creates the perfect environment for dining, relaxing and having fun. The Lutron lighting control enables Michael to manage the light levels with changing natural light, which is very important, given that Mickey’s Beach has stunning views of the English Channel & the Devon coastline. The natural daylight can vary from dark, rainy days to bright sunny days with awesome sunsets, so the lighting control  brings the outside in, by balancing the changing light through the day and evening.
