Couldn’t help but wonder whether it’s possible to follow in the stilettoed-footprints of Sex and the City’s very own Carrie Bradshaw? Well it is - if you have the financial clout of Mr Big.
Specialist townhouse broker, Leslie J. Garfield is delighted to launch the sale of 85 Perry Street, a newly listed, 4,159 sq ft four bedroom townhouse in the heart of Greenwich Village.
Perry Street – one of Manhattan’s most famous roads - is featured as the home of character Carrie Bradshaw, played by actress Sarah Jessica Parker in the six Sex and the City series, and two subsequent movies. The street (it’s unclear further down whether they live on street or in area) is also home to list of notable neighbors including Sarah Jessica Parker herself, Homeland (2011 – present) star Clare Danes, and Dexter (2016 – 2013) star Michael C. Hall.
85 Perry Street was the project of retired clothing merchant Aaron Henry, who ventured into the real estate business in 1817 by constructing nine brick houses in the area of Greenwich Village. Of this, were nos. 83 and 85 Perry Street, which he designed as mirror image homes finished in a flemish bond brick-work exterior. By 1989, an extension to the top floor was added.
The townhouse is surrounded by one of the only secret and shared gardens in New York City. Landscaped by Anita Wilcox in 1930, and secluded by a section of thirteen homes from which the original owners decided to share their gardens to make a communal space. This was created for children to play in, as there were no parks in the neighbourhood at the time of build.
One of the block’s former residents was actor Pierre Epstein, who played the Rabbi in Sex in the City. In memorable scenes where Charlotte York is trying to convert to Judaism she is rejected several times by Epstein’s character, before being invited to join the family dinner table at Shabbat dinner.
For around 16 years, 85 Perry Street was the home of award-winning author Patty McCormick, and her husband. As a two-time National Book Award finalist, Patricia found her fictional voice whilst living in the home, and is the author of critically acclaimed novels, most notably Never Fall Down (2012), a novel based on the true story of an 11-year-old boy who survived the Killing Fields of Cambodia by playing music.
The property is surrounded by a list of notable neighbors including Sarah Jessica Parker, Homeland (2011 – present) star Clare Danes, and Dexter (2016 – 2013) star Michael C. Hall.
The four-bedroom townhouse 85 Perry Street is available for private sale priced at $17.95 million. For more information visit: www.lesliegarfield.com.
