And The Nominees Are…

The SBID International Design Awards finalists for 2021 have been revealed, boasting an impressive shortlist of award-worthy entries across Interior Design, Product Design and Fit-Out. Among the impressive global design talent to have become a finalist in this year’s SBID International Design Awards is Bernard Interiors, Abode2 explore their nominated designs and gets the reaction from Jen Bernard, founder and managing director of Bernard Interiors.

The interior design of Audley Nightingale Place has been shortlisted in the ‘Healthcare and Wellness’ category and the Golden Mile Marbella Apartment has been shortlisted in the ‘Residential Apartment Under £1M’ category.

Completed during lockdown in 2020, Nightingale Place is the first central London development for Audley Villages. Known as a ‘sanctuary in the city’, facilities include a restaurant, bar bistro, library and lounge, spa and cinema. The design inspiration was taken from the adjacent Clapham Common, popular culture and London life to form a luxurious urban retreat with a refined and contemporary feel.

Bernard Interiors was commissioned in 2019 to design the interior of the luxury apartment on Marbella’s Golden Mile. The apartment has been completely reconfigured to include three en-suite bedrooms and a large open plan living space at the core of the property. The contemporary interior has a sophisticated European feel with carefully considered design details incorporated throughout to give a seamless and crisp finish.

SBID is one of the most prestigious accolades in the interior design industry, success in the GOLD-standard Awards programme demonstrates the highest level of design excellence across the commercial and residential sectors. From the design scheme, materials used and products specified through to the final fit-out installation, the SBID Awards champion design standards across the supply chain in the design, procurement and execution of outstanding interiors.

Each finalist has been evaluated by industry-leading experts for functionality, technical merit, creative delivery and ability to inspire; highlighting the value that expert interior design and specialist craftmanship can bring to businesses, homes and society as a whole.

Commenting on the nomination, Jen Bernard said: “We’re absolutely delighted that we have been shortlisted for not only one, but two awards in the prestigious and globally recognised SBID awards. It’s also fantastic to be recognised in both commercial and residential categories. Both projects were both completed during a very challenging year, so these results are testament to the hard work and dedication of the Bernard Interiors team.”

To complete the final stage of the judging process, the public are now invited to vote for their favourite projects on the SBID website. Accounting for an influential 30% of the results, the ultimate end-users of design have the final say in which entries go on to receive one of the sought after Awards. The public vote will close on Friday 10 September at 5pm (BST).

Culminating with a captivating ceremony in London’s latest luxury lifestyle destination, the winning entries will be announced and awarded with a bespoke crystal trophy designed exclusively by Sans Souci Glass Deco at the Nobu Hotel Portman Square on Friday 22 October 2021.
