An Understated Statement

Abode2 explores the outstanding design by Andrew Henry Interiors, that turns the spotlight on understated luxury in new Mayfair homes

Andrew Henry Interiors was appointed by premium property developer The Door to transform a recently renovated three-bedroom triplex home in one of Mayfair’s premier roads; South Molton Street. Challenging Andrew and his award-winning team to create a design that would fit the needs of purchasers who wouldn’t necessarily be living in the property full time, the design honed in on minimal opulence and understated luxury.  Available to buy with a guide price for £4.75 million through Caddingtons of London, the new home showcases LUXE, Andrew Henry Interiors’ elegant, high-end, bespoke service.

They worked on two projects simultaneously, which could not have been more different from the other. The first was the luxurious triplex apartment in South Molton Street, Mayfair which we have recently completed to provide a unique home for the most discerning of buyers. Andrew and his team were great to work with, their service, value for money and attention to detail was first class and both interior design schemes have surpassed our expectations.

An expansive home, the team wanted to ensure that the vast living space was a flexible room that maximised the versatility and usage options available to purchasers. Creating different zones throughout the space Andrew Henry Interiors crafted a multi-purpose room. A formal area was incorporated near to the Poliform kitchen, allowing residents to entertain guests effortlessly. Arranged around a circular veined marble table with brass base, this zone has been defined by curved rugs which have been placed under the statement bespoke curved sofa and matching pouffe. Upholstered in white boucle, the sofa adds texture whilst two bespoke armchairs in striking russet velvet add a depth to the space.

The second zone, which features electronically opening roof lights above, has been designed to act as a relaxing garden room space. Square edges differentiate this seating corner and impressive artificial plants compensate for the limited outdoor space within the property. Two large olive trees, a palm and a fig tree create an oasis of serenity. A central glass coffee table with a rattan textured metal shelf is centred in this space and the colour scheme of taupe and maroon along with the curved rug creates a cohesive link to the formal living space.

A dining space adds further usage options. A striking black pendant light with burnished gold interior hangs over a stunning round dining table by Andrew Martin. A zone with a minimalistic feel, the clear glass table top sits on a polished nickel base and is surrounded by dining chairs which have been upholstered in lavish charcoal velvet with brushed gold legs. Stylish accessories include textured vases, sculptures, faux plants and dried stems, all of which have been placed on bespoke shelving. Layering the space and creating interest and art rather than storage.

Bespoke artworks in the form of hand painted canvases have been crafted by a talented member of the Andrew Henry Interiors team and adorn the walls throughout the vast open plan living space, tying all of the zones together and creating a polished feel.

Access to the bedrooms was restricted due to a smaller staircase which linked to the upper floors. This meant that furniture which would usually be incorporated in a property needed careful consideration. Overcoming this challenge, the team selected bespoke fabric headboards adding a sense of grandeur as well as comfort to all bedrooms.

In the master bedroom an upholstered taupe textured weave bed back from Poliform and bespoke fabric scatter cushions in different shapes textures and sizes create interest to this large space. Delicate Pooky bedside lamps with unusual sculptural brushed brass stems and trendy coolie style shades provide stylish low lighting whilst a bespoke stool in an accent colour rests under a shagreen dresser and ties the room together. Strategically placed above the dresser is a brass framed mirror, reflects the outdoor terrace and floods the master suite with light.

Shelves on either side of the bed have been exploited to create a memorable design, with interesting interiors books and sculptured accessories. A stunning en-suite bathroom which would not look out of place in a 5 star hotel, has a feature egg shaped bath, sumptuous walk in shower and Italian Marble tiling.

For guests, the triplex boasts a guest bedroom suite. Styled with a heavy cream silk bed throw, fusing the existing silk panelling and bed together, the space is an inviting retreat. Deep red velvet cushions add richness and tall brass mushroom bedside lamps compliment the scheme throughout the property. Again, fitted Poliform shelving surrounds the bespoke bedframe which has been upholstered in matte Zinc velvet with a linen weave. Oversized printed minimal artwork in a brushed brass frame introduces a focal point whilst groupings of statement vases and sculptures adds further interest.

Designed to create a more casual and informal setting, the third double bedroom plays with oval shaped pieces. Both the headboard and mirror have been selected with this theme in mind whilst geometric fabrics create a playful space. A small desk area has been incorporated using a brushed bleached wood table, elevating the space and showcasing how the room can be used to the best of its ability including working from home.

Hallways throughout the property have been utilised as transitional spaces, incorporating statement artwork and large mirrors. An inner-city retreat in the form of a roof terrace is located just off of the master bedroom suite. Dressed with anthracite terrace furniture and accessorised with oversized pots and artificial plants the Andrew Henry Interiors team have enhanced the space and incorporated russet accent colours via scatter cushions, seamlessly linking the outside to the inside.
