A Sixties Feel

02.03.20

Leading London property developer, Galliard Homes, in joint venture with CJ O’Shea have launched a new 1960s themed show home, inspired by 60s focused Season 3 of ‘The Crown’, with the interiors designed by Rabih Hage, located in the award-winning Baltimore Tower residential development.

Occupying the 43rd floor of the 450 ft high, architectural masterpiece that is Baltimore Tower, the new apartment designed by Rabih Hage has bold and colourful 1960s inspired interiors which echo the look of the current Season 3 of ‘The Crown’. The new one bedroom show home provides 543 sq. ft of living space complete with a living area, an open-plan kitchen and bedroom, opening onto a 308 sq. ft private terrace.

RIBA chartered architect and interior designer, Rabih Hage, divides his time between his offices in London and New York. His work has been recognised with numerous awards from the design industry, including the Andrew Martin Interior Designer of the Year Award, 2011 and the Homes & Gardens Award for Interior Design, 2012. Hage has also been involved in several of Galliard Homes developments, such as The Chilterns in Marylebone and Carlow House in Camden.

Now, Rabih Hage has used statement artwork, a bold colour scheme, contrasting wood finishes and state-of-the-art appliances to evoke a 1960s ambience, following the world-renowned success of the 1960s based third season of ‘The Crown’.

Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning series, ‘The Crown’, is a historical drama television series about the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, created and principally written by Peter Morgan for Netflix. Following two incredibly successful seasons, the third season was released in November of 2019 and follows the time period of 1964-1977, beginning with Harold Wilson’s election as Prime Minister and ending with the Silver Jubilee of Elizabeth II.

Inspired by the 1960s, the apartment has quirky and colourful interiors, transporting residents back to the ‘swinging 60s’. The apartment hallway opens onto the kitchen and living area. The living area epitomises the vibrant nature of the 1960s, with striking artwork and colourful furnishings set on one strip oak flooring. In the centre of the room, a maroon couch is complimented by three sculptural chairs in respectively teal, red and lime green. Bringing the room together is a central glass coffee table and a large 60s style rug in shades of orange, red and white. To one side of the living room is a light wood side cabinet meticulously designed to fit in with the apartment’s unique 1960s signature.

The fully fitted kitchen consists of light ferrara oak units complete with an attached curve effect island and grey marble worktops and splashback with a stainless-steel sink area. The De Dietrich integrated appliances include a built-in oven and microwave, a ceramic hob, a free-standing washer/dryer and a fridge/freezer.

The master-bedroom has been designed in autumnal tones of orange, green and brown.  A deep-orange bed furnished with decorative pillows sits by of a feature wall covered in patterned wallpaper, while a cream coloured, fur-effect rug complexes the rooms 1960s feel.

Adjacent to the master bedroom is the apartment’s bathroom, which is fitted with wood panelled walls and cabinets alongside a large format porcelain tiling which looks like veined marble slabs. The hotel-like bathroom has been finished with an incredibly high specification, offering underfloor heating, antique bronze finish thermostatic heated towel rail, steel taps and mirrored cabinets with feature lighting.

Providing residents with access to the apartment’s outside terrace are glass doors, offering exceptional views of London’s skyline. In addition to the immaculately designed interiors, the apartment’s 308 sq. ft walk-out terrace is what makes the apartment even more spectacular. Due to the positioning of the apartment, on the 43rd floor of Baltimore Tower, the terrace offers unprecedented views of the London skyline. This outside space provides the ideal location for residents to sit and enjoy the exquisite views Baltimore Tower has to offer.

Baltimore Tower is one of Canary Wharf’s most prestigious addresses. The landmark tower is designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill (SOM), the skyscraper specialists behind the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest skyscraper.

The owner of the apartment will have full membership and access to ‘The Club’, which is located In a building immediately adjacent to the tower run by Nuffield Health. ‘The Club’ boasts the largest health club complex of its kind in London, offering a championship length indoor swimming pool, a cardio suite and a boxing arena. Residents of Baltimore Tower will also have access to a 24-hour concierge, a residents’ lounge, a luxury cinema room and secure level parking.
