Singer, Ariana Grande, 26 has invested in a 300 year-old property in California via a trust.
The timber-frame home, named Porter House, was sold by Ellen DeGeneres and Portia Rossi who bought the home for a reported $3.6 million just months before renovating the property and flipping it.
The house originally consisted of two separate barns in Surrey, England, until the 1980s, when it was disassembled and the structures were shipped to be reconstructed side-by-side in Montecito, California. As Santa Barbara County is full of grand, revivalist architecture from the early 20th century, Porter House is completely unique in this area.
Recent renovations include integrating the two barns, previously known as “Porter Barn” and “Black Barn,” into a single house, while preserving much of the original character. The fairytale house still a wealth of casement windows, over-sized stone and brick fireplaces and vaulted timber-frame ceilings. It’s surrounded by a forest of trees and rustic patios. The renovations added a new modern kitchen, which is open to the dining and living rooms, as well as a sleek new laundry room, snack bar and study.
The Montecito purchase comes on the heels of news that Ms. Grande also reportedly spent a cool $13.7 million on a recently built contemporary home in the coveted Bird Street, known for its stunning views and privacy, in Los Angeles’s Hollywood Hills neighbourhood.
