Montréal-based designer Alain Courchesne launched the concept, The Doggy Bathroom, on Kickstarter after a very successful reveal at SuperZoo Expo in Las Vegas in 2018. The product’s simplicity and design have been garnering worldwide attention ever since.

Courchesne and his 2-year-old Italian Greyhound, paired up to create an innovative solution for male dogs who lift their leg featuring custom Adhesive Pee Pads which are held up vertically by an adhesive strip. Although the Doggy Bathroom was designed with males in mind, female dogs can call it their own too, making its design universal.

It can be used as a potty-training device for puppies, as a seasonal solution for small breeds who cannot withstand cold weather, or as a permanent solution for dogs and/or owners with limited mobility. The patent pending Doggy Bathroom is made of recyclable plastic and its bespoke Adhesive Pads are made with biodegradable materials. In 2020, manufacturing was moved to Montréal in order to support the local economy and minimize carbon emissions. Three new exciting colours were just introduced into the collection to celebrate the first made in Canada production.

Participating for the second time, Doggy Bathroom showcased at SuperZoo Expo in Las Vegas last month. Whist there, Designer and founder Alain Courchesne said: “Our harsh Canadian winters motivated me to design the Doggy Bathroom. My goal was to create a device for my Italian greyhound that offered not only an effective indoor option with vertical pee pads, but that was also aesthetically pleasing.”

Since its launch, Doggy Bathroom has sold over 5,000 units in less than two years, and global demand continues to soar with six international design patents and a pending utility patent in the US. This has motivated the brand to expand and develop a smaller version, affectionately named “Doggy Bathroom Mini”.

Launching on Kickstarter for pre-sales in September 2021 and exclusively showcased to SuperZoo attendees first, delivery is scheduled for early 2022 as the company expands to Europe, where it has already made its first appearance in British Vogue.

Available for purchase online, the Doggy Bathroom starter kit includes the Doggy Bathroom enclosure, base, clips, pee pads and mats, and retails for $189 USD.
