Working from home? Why not make home paradise?

10.09.20

As we all know very well by now, 2020 is a weird year. The COVID pandemic will leave significant changes in our daily lives for quite some time. One of these main changes is an ongoing and strengthening trend of people deciding to move away from large cities in favor of more rural settings.

High net-worth individuals are now turning to alternate tropical locations to get away from the typical wealth centers such as London, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, etc.  Real Estate in the Caribbean and in Costa Rica is proving increasingly popular. Europeans and North Americans are choosing to move permanently to tropical areas where they can safely distance in areas with lots of space, great weather, natural beauty, and with beautiful beaches within arm’s reach.

Your new long-term family office

Working from home has become a part of our lives. However, conditions of working from home from small apartments with open plan layouts are far from ideal. Families, where both parents work from home and children, are doing remote learning, need larger, independent spaces. Larger, separate areas are typically not viable from smaller homes in main urban cities where real estate is costly.

Many industries and businesses are fundamentally changing their physical real-estate decisions and turning working from home into long-term circumstances. Those in sectors such as technology, legal, design, financial, etc., are being told that remote jobs will be ongoing for the next couple of years, if not longer.

Nowadays, families that have the capability are deciding to move away from main cities in favor of more rural areas. Places where they can enjoy time outdoors, be socially distanced from others. New homes can allow everyone to have their own space to work or study when needed and spend time together more often.

Selecting the location of your new home

As more and more industries and businesses can now work from anywhere, families choose locations in different places in the world. We see more and more headlines each day, stating that homes in the Caribbean have become quite popular for people from the United Kingdom and the northeast coast of the United States.

These are some of the headlines that we have seen recently:

"New Yorkers are Migrating to the Caribbean."

"Dominican Real Estate Is Surging."

"Four Seasons Nevis is Seeing a Surge in Villa Sales."

The Caribbean features quite beautiful locations, but there is always something looming in the background.

The Impending Risk in the Caribbean

Every year, hurricane season spans the months of June to November. The peak of the season is from mid-August to late October. The reality of climate change has shown that hurricanes are intensifying and becoming more destructive over the past few years.

In 2017, Hurricanes Maria and Irma were particularly devastating Category 5 hurricanes, destroying entire islands in The Caribbean.

So if you're deciding to move to a beautiful location to enjoy nature's wonders, why choose one that may put your well-being in danger of severe natural disasters?

Costa Rica has all the beauty without the hurricanes.

Costa Rica is known for being home to thousands of international owners who have chosen our country for its stunning natural wonders, ample wildlife, incredible views, and awe-inspiring sunsets.

Costa Rica has a geographical location that puts it clear of the typical paths of hurricanes as they form in the Atlantic basin, and they make their way westward through The Caribbean and then turn northward towards the U.S. east coast.

We have only had one hurricane hit our coasts in 189 years, and the most recent event was a weakening Category 1 when it reached our Caribbean coast.

The beach areas that are the most popular and feature the most amazing areas are on our Pacific Coast; therefore, this area provides some additional natural protection. This avoids any potential direct hits from storms coming from The Caribbean.

Costa Rica's Real Estate market is spiking

Local realtors are reporting a spike in activity and interest in properties in all price points. The current conditions with the Pandemic and social unrest in large U.S. cities cause a mass exodus away from these cities.

There is substantial current interest and activity as residents from San Francisco, New York, Seattle, Chicago, etc., decide to move away from their cities. If remote working is possible for extended periods or permanently, many choose Costa Rica as their new permanent destination.

SARCO Architects Costa Rica is your ideal local resource to make this happen.
