A 'super penthouse' is set to smash records as the most expensive apartment ever sold in New Zealand - with an eye-watering $32 million price tag.
The two-storey penthouse in a brand-new building, known as 'The Pacifica', is currently under construction, and will boast a 'sky garden' on the 54th floor as well as 24-hour valet parking and a private cinema
The penthouse is being built by Chinese developer Hengyi, which has been delivering luxurious residential projects in New Zealand and Australia since 2010. While final plans for the layout of the penthouse remain to be seen, project director Gavin Lloyd has said that it will have at least four bedrooms and be 'five times' the size of the average New Zealand house.
Among its many features, the penthouse would also boast a formal lounge, a chef-style kitchen and a butler's kitchen, a banquet-style dining area, a cellar and wine tasting room, a personal library, gym, sauna and spa.
Floor-to-ceiling windows will award residents a bird’s eye view of Auckland city, to as far as the Great Barrier Island in the Hauraki Gulf, as well as the edge of the Waitematā Harbour.
New Zealand is well on its way as the next playground for the rich and famous, in light of the next America’s Cup in 2021. Considered to be a luxury market by international buyers, the allure of New Zealand is in its remote location and natural beauty, supported by a strong tourism industry and world-class accommodation.
The Pacifica will hence mark an unprecedented level of luxury accommodation in the country. A $3.5 million deposit is being sought for the purchase of the Pacifica’s super penthouse apartment, which will officially take on the market by August 2018 with construction set to finish in 2020.
According to Lloyd, ‘people in the know’ have expressed advanced interest in the property, although it will take at least two more years to complete construction “This will set a record. There’s been nothing sold like this before in New Zealand," adds Gavin.
