Klafs Bring it home

23.08.21

The wellness industry is showing no signs of slowing down – something experts KLAFS UK know all about, as they get set to launch a brand new showroom to meet the continually rising demand.

Popular for their remedial qualities, saunas can be incorporated into daily wellness routines to alleviate a variety of illnesses and conditions, from circulatory problems and skin complaints to muscle soreness and anxiety. When combined with dry salt inhalation, saunas are also excellently suited to reduce the risk of infection.

For those looking to fully reap the benefits, the thermal journey must be complete and repeated.  For instance, Gilles Darmon, Director of KLAFS UK, recommends a sauna session should be followed with a sharp immersion into the cold - The Snow Paradise provides stimulation at a skin tingling -10 degrees, with fine, chemical-free, powdery snow and surrounding rocks and glacier crevasses, creating a unique and peaceful environment to unwind. But if that feels a little on the frosty side, the Ice Lounge creates a multi sensory room that cools down the airways and skin at a more comfortably refreshing 14-16 degrees. After the hot and cold phases, Gilles recommends a period of relaxation in a comfortable lounger.

Gilles comments; “When a person enters a hot sauna cabin, the temperature of their skin, muscles and core rises, their blood vessels expand to evacuate the heat from the skin and the blood flow increases. The heat also relaxes the muscles. Tense muscles receive a poorer supply of blood and nutrients, so relaxing them speeds up muscular recovery – which is why it’s so beneficial for those who partake in sports or regular exercise. When the same person enters a cold environment after the sauna, like a plunge pool, a snow room or even a cold shower, their blood vessels suddenly contract to retain the internal heat shifting he blood into the core of the body, their internal organs. This increased blood flow flushes out the tissues it reaches, liberating harmful substances and detoxifying the body. The next stage of the thermal journey is the relaxation - necessary for the body temperature to equalise and the heart rate to slow back down to its original level.”

KLAFS is world renowned for offering a premium range of specialist spas, from sauna, steam room and ice lounge to caldarium, tepidarium and hamam facilities – while such products may feel best suited to some of the world’s most exclusive hotels, they can also be found in private residential developments and individual homes too. Through their exclusive partnership with renowned swimming pool specialists Guncast, UK customers now have access to a one-stop-shop for luxury well-being, with the very best being delivered nationwide from their three regional offices.

Demand has particularly skyrocketed for home wellness suites, no doubt impacted by lockdown, as well as growing awareness of the importance of wellness in the home. We’re increasingly finding ourselves integrating our full wellness range into properties, so clients can have a tailored oasis of calm that specifically suits their needs, whenever they want it,” explains Gilles.

What makes KLAFS UK so unique is its ability to deliver the complete end to end service – from initial consultation and design through to complete installation. Top notch craftmanship, state of the art technology and an abundance of ingenuity, passion and intuition is channelled into each and every product – and aesthetic design, comfort and innovation is of course key, too.

One of the newest products to launch and already in high demand, the AURA Sauna exudes a feeling of cosy exclusivity and visual expansiveness through the elegant and innovative materials used. Combining continuous glass fronts with the option of finest hemlock wood, the sauna benches appear to float. The elegant sauna pendant light and soft sauna cushions create an inviting, lounge atmosphere - new types of textiles enable the hygienic use of cushions in the sauna, offering a luxe alternative to traditional wooden headrests and backrests.

Paired with the very latest in innovative pool design and water purification technology, the unique offering from KLAFS UK is disrupting the wellness market, with project commissions more than doubling over the past 12 months. Now with regional offices in Greater Manchester, Oxford and West Sussex, KLAFS UK are working closely with private clients through to developers to deliver the most indulgent wellness experiences across the country.
