Keep Calm And Carry On

Even though we are experiencing an unprecedented year, there are some signs of continuity which personify the famous British “keep calm and carry on” resolve. The area is named after the Gore Estate, which occupied the site until it was developed by Victorian planners in the mid 19th century.

For eight weeks every year across the summer months, London's Royal Albert Hall plays host to the UK's top musicians in order to celebrate the achievements of composers throughout the ages. Famous anthems such as Rule Britannia and Land of Hope & Glory are sung triumphantly by a jubilant audience, waving flags. Ever since it started in 1895, the Proms has pushed musical boundaries and challenged tastes. This year, The Proms will run from 17 July until 12 September 2020, for 8 weeks. 2020 marks the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth, so a unique First Night commission by Iain Farrington for a Grand Virtual Orchestra is planned.
