French Transitional House Style Developed By Makow Associates Architect Inc.

Makow Associates Architects has developed a style of house design that they have called French transitional. This style is based on using classical proportions found in French architecture often French Château style buildings.

The elevation design borrowed from French style, using such important elements as symmetry, raised parapets cornice details, mid banding and porticos. At the same time the transitional façade combine modern detailing that bring the design into the 21st century. Such details include large, tall windows that are painted black or dark grey, simplified stone profiles, recessed surrounds instead of projected casings just to mention a few. Sometimes light weight steel canopies are utilized at entries.

People like this style because the houses have a timeless quality, but at the same time, feel modern and contemporary. The style can be used for house that are narrow or very wide as seen in the examples shown.
