Making a slightly unusual property purchase, talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres and her actress wife Portia de Rossi, of Ally McBeal fame, latest property acquisition has involved moving a property across the Atlantic. The house was originally built in Surrey, then carefully dismantled and moved to Montecito, Santa Barbara, County, to be painfully reconstructed there. The house, purchased for £2.7 million is a Tudor-style timber-framed house with three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, at least five fireplaces and an orangery that connects two barns. The home is adorned with cathedral ceilings as well as a wet bar.
Their new abode now sits in one and a third acres and is surrounded by beautiful views.
The couple have a wide and diverse property portfolio in California and Montecito. With their previous property, purchased from Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine and his model wife Behati Prinsloo, demanding a hefty £32.6 million price tag. The home is 10,000 square feet with five bedrooms and 12 bathrooms over three floors. Plus, a 2,000 square foot master suite with a one-bed/one-bath apartment for guests or staff and situated in Los Angeles.
The properties certainly aren’t cheap, but as the second highest paid TV host in 2018, raking in an impressive £66.9 million pretax. Not to mention, her career making payday of £15.3 million for her Netflix special Ellen DeGeneres: Relatable. Ellen is able to splurge on a few unique properties from time to time.
