Maria Montessori School

We are one of around 50 Montessori Training centres in the world, and the only one in the UK, which deliver the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) Diploma, an internationally recognised qualification based on the authentic approach to Montessori education. The courses delivered by the Maria Montessori Institute have evolved directly from those first delivered by Dr Montessori and her son Mario between 1919 and 1951.

AMI was set up by Dr Montessori herself to safeguard the integrity of her work and today is active and recognised worldwide. Our lectures, tutorials, written assignments and course material are all prepared and delivered under direct authorisation from AMI.

We are proud of the academic excellence of our courses, which are delivered by highly qualified trainers who have all undertaken the AMI Trainer of trainers programme after substantial experience working with children.

The Maria Montessori Institute runs exemplar Montessori schools in London where children aged 2 to 11 experience the Montessori approach delivered by AMI trained teachers. On-going professional development and mentorship ensures that teachers are actively engaged in reflective practice to maintain the highest level of authenticity.

The Maria Montessori Institute (MMI) is a registered charity which promotes the authentic educational approach first developed by Maria Montessori.

This is achieved by providing:

1. AMI teaching training for age levels 0-3 years, 3-6 years and 6-12 years
2. A school located at several sites serving children from 2 to 12 years
3. Short courses and workshops aimed at parents and anyone interested in supporting the lives of children
4. Promotion and support of outreach projects underpinned by Montessori principles

We are affiliated to the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI).
