Actress Sienna Miller Sells Buckinghamshire Abode

Actress Sienna Miller’s cosy cottage in the English countryside has come to market asking £1.95 million.

The house, set amid a wildflower meadow in Buckinghamshire, wears its 19th-century thatched roof like a dress, draped over the brick abode almost to the ground. It features Critall windows salvaged from eBay, original exposed wooden beams and an explosion of colour from a recent redesign.

Spanning just 1,992 square feet, the home still manages to fit four bedrooms, a kitchen with a large Lacanche range, a dining room designed for big meals, a low snug with an open hearth fireplace and a reading nook.

Miller commissioned her friend, movie director Gaby Dellal, to remake the home in the early 2020s for herself and her then 12-year-old daughter and used it as a holiday home. A previous 1970s renovation had expanded the home, but its core is original, including a narrow wooden staircase, the exposed wood beams, low ceilings and open fireplaces.

The result of Dellal’s makeover is maximum character in minimal space, with patterned wallpaper throughout, Moroccan tiles in the bathroom, old saloon doors and plenty of mirrors to amplify light and space. The dining room is open to a second floor mezzanine, which creates an expansive feeling, while the attached snug uses the low ceiling to its advantage.
