The Bronze Age

Southbank Place leads the London property market with autumn-ready interiors

The bronze trend which has taken the London property market by storm is set to stay, as interior designers look to utilise the warm tones of autumn through rich earth-inspired colour schemes and light-reflecting precious metals. Belvedere Gardens, the latest phase at Southbank Place, features a scattering of bronze flourishes inside and out, providing an uplifting backdrop in the cooler months to come. The homes are being developed jointly by Qatari Diar and Canary Wharf Group, and start from £2,145,000 for a two-bedroom apartment.

Bronze, widely described as 2017’s ‘it’ colour, can remain on-trend year-round, but really comes into its own during autumn. Amongst the warm tones of orange, red and brown associated with the season, bronze best captivates the rich, vibrant hues of falling leaves, evening sun and crisp early mornings. Replacing last year’s brass as the precious metal of the moment, the bright, lustrous nature of bronze ensures it will continue to add depth and opulence to interiors for years to come.

Designed by the award-winning GRID Architects and leading interior designers Goddard Littlefair, the apartments in Belvedere Gardens have taken inspiration from the Festival of Britain, a national exhibition held on the site in 1951. The bronze Festival Star, originally created by the graphic designer, Abram Games, echoes through the interiors in elegant clean lines and bronze adornments. These include bronze feature door handles, triple-glazed windows set in bronze anodised aluminium frames, bronze-finished Dornbracht mixer-taps and bronze-detailed lighting, which together bathe the apartments in brilliant colour.

The use of bronze is also a key feature of the external architecture, as the Festival Star is subtly replicated through masterful embossing and debossing across the façades. The bronze paint is light-sensitive, enabling the façade to transform with the movement of the sun throughout the day.

Southbank Place’s high-specification apartments offer open-plan kitchen/dining areas equipped with Miele appliances, touch control cabinetry, polished stone worktops and breakfast bars. The sophisticated living spaces boast floor-to-ceiling windows which flood the room with natural light and provide spectacular panoramic views of the London skyline. Purchasers can also enjoy a walk-in wardrobe in the master bedroom and a spacious bathroom with full-size bath and walk-in rain shower, with smart-controlled mood lighting throughout.

The building will comprise 97 one-to-three bedroom homes, in addition to a state-of-the-art residents-only amenities floor and roof terrace. These exceptional amenities include a gymnasium, 1,700 sq. ft. health club, 25-metre swimming pool, his and hers steam and sauna rooms and beauty and hair salon. Uniquely in this market, Southbank Place will also include a direct entrance into London Waterloo station.

These design-driven apartments start from £2,145,000 and have proven popular since launching in Q4 2016, with over 70% sold to date.
