Landscape at Forefront of Design at Acton Gardens

Instead we looked to achieve a more visually permeable building, with articulation that would allow more lightness, transparency and connection through the building form. The main blocks can be read as three distinct park frontage villa blocks, with robust masonry and large, full height windows, which have echoes of a more recognisable vernacular architecture of the grand Georgian or Victorian townhouses and mansion blocks that line the parks of London.”
WaiLun continues: “Balconies and roof terraces creating a visually striking vertical landscape as part of our design to go 'beyond the park' and compliment Acton Gardens' wider landscape strategy. The high level terraced gardens between the three villa blocks also visually link between the new park and architectural design.”
Green open space plays a vital role at Acton Gardens, with tree lined streets designed around a series of parks, squares and communal gardens, featuring extensive landscaping, play areas and allotments. In a nod to the traditional appeal of London's parks and squares, the outdoor spaces are designed to create social, lively places for people to relax and enjoy, where pedestrians have priority and community interaction is encouraged.
