With an unrivalled history of developing and promoting both iconic and ground breaking artists the world over, the Halcyon Gallery always has inspiration at its heart. By Ada Crawshay-Jones

Halcyon Gallery was established in 1982 as a platform for inspirational art. The gallery is now based on New Bond Street, Mayfair and represents a selection of renowned international artists. Together Halcyon Gallery’s three London spaces and Shanghai space host a diverse programme of contemporary art, showing both established artists and new, emerging talent.

翡翠画廊成立于1982年，是一个展出灵感艺术作品的平台。画廊位于伦敦梅菲尔区的新邦德街上，汇集了精选的国际著名艺术家的作品。翡翠画廊位于伦敦的三家展馆与上海的展馆一道举办了多种多样的现代艺术展览，作品的出处涵盖了已成名的艺术家和新兴艺术人才。

From its inception, Halcyon Gallery has championed painters and sculptors who display exceptional talent, technical skill and intrinsic creativity. Among its British artists are hyper-realist painter Mitch Griffiths, whose canvases touch on themes of nationhood, iconography, ‘cult beauty’ and celebrity culture, and Russell Young whose larger-than-life silkscreen paintings are appropriated from recent history and popular culture. Sculptors include Russian artist Dashi Namdakov, Italian artist Lorenzo Quinn and American artist Dale Chihuly who has mastered the alluring, translucent and transparent qualities of ice, water, glass and neon and is globally renowned for his ambitious site-specific architectural installations in public spaces, and in exhibitions presented in museums and gardens worldwide.Furthermore international artists include Indian painter and sculptor Jagannath Panda and Colombian artist Santiago Montoya，Spanish artists such as Ernesto Cánovas and Pedro Paricio，legendary Bob Dylan and the late Eve Arnold.

Arranging commissions across its global client base of art collectors, Halcyon Gallery plays a leading role in placing public art – a passion of founding director Paul Green – in high-profile locations in cities around the world. Among these, Wu Ching Ju’s Pro Terra et Natura was commissioned as a major public monument in Shanghai, China and Dale Chihuly’s The Sun was installed at Berkeley Square in central London in 2014 whilst Lorenzo Quinn returned to Park Lane to unveil Would You Catch Me If I Fall? in 2015.

Philanthropy is an important facet of Halcyon Gallery. The installation of Simon Gudgeon’s elegant Goddess of Nature sculpture in 2008 on the banks of The Serpentine in Hyde Park, London, has raised nearly £3 million for The Royal Parks Foundation’s Education Centre. Three years earlier, the gallery donated Lorenzo Quinn’s sculpture The Tree of Life to the city of Birmingham to commemorate those who died in the Second World War blitz on the city. As part of its assertion of the life-enhancing quality of art, the organisation supports various charities, including The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award World Fellowship, a scheme that helps young people throughout the globe in health, education and welfare.

It has become a world-class destination for art collectors who are drawn not only to the inspirational artists – the ‘modern masters’ the gallery represents, but also to the commitment and passion of the organisation’s entire team.
